Art on the Plaza: Holiday Edition
Nov 21st & Dec 19th, 5-8 pm!
We are opening our Art on the Plaza markets to all artists! Are you interested in being a vendor at one or both our Holiday Edition Markets? There is no booth fee, we just ask that you bring your own tables/way to display art and your own ways to collect payments. Setup begins at 4:30 and the Plaza must be cleared by 8:30pm. This is a rain or shine event, so tents are optional.
If you'd like a spot, please EMAIL Danielle Woodson and send 2-3 images of the work you will be selling so we can use it for promotion. Thanks!

Good afternoon we are planning a small winter BeerFest for December 14th. What is in store you ask? Live music, good food, beautiful art, awesome people, and even better Brews! We are looking for local artists, vendors, breweries and more to join us for a day of fun! Doors will open at 12pm and the market will run until 5pm. Craft beer from participating breweries will be sold on a ticket basis (this will also include some merch). People can judge and vote for their favorite throughout the day. The brewery that wins the most votes will win The Frosty Pint Award.
Vendors are welcome to join in on the fun as they set up and sell goods and art. We will have live music going from 12-5pm. This is a limited space event. Meaning spaces are first come first serve. More Details to follow but if you would like to be added to the list please let me know asap.
The Blu-Sky Artist Award (BSAA) is an unrestricted grant that includes a $500 grant to two artists, a published interview, and Social Media Spotlight and a Winner’s Certificate
Eligibility
* Must be 18 years of age or older
* All submissions must be original creations of the participating artists.
* Open to artists worldwide.
* All 2d or 3d visual mediums accepted
* Emerging to established artists welcome
Entry fee: Lower entry fees offered from the opening of the competition until November 15, 2024
Early Bird Discount: $25 USD for 10 works
Regular: $35 for 10 submissions

All of us at South Arts – our board and staff – want to express empathy and concern for all who have been affected by the recent storms and flooding across the region.
We thank everyone who is working so hard to help those in need and recognize that recovery will take much time, patience and resources. Below are some of the resources we’re aware of that may be helpful to artists, arts organizations and communities who have been impacted. To help ease any burdens, we’re providing flexibility on grant application due dates and grant reporting deadlines. Your well-being is our priority, so please take the time you need to recover and regroup. The National Heritage Responders, a team of trained conservators and collections care professionals administered by the Foundation for Advancement in Conservation, are available 24/7 to provide advice and guidance.
Members of the public and individual artists who have questions about saving family heirlooms and personal collections can email the National Heritage Responders at NHRpublichelpline@culturalheritage.org.

WANTED: ART INSTRUCTORS
Kids Upstate is seeking a part-time art instructor
to teach in its school-based afterschool
Kids Clubs in Spartanburg County.
Applicants should be:
• experienced artists and/or art educators who love working with children
• capable of teaching 1st – 5th graders a variety of art media including drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and photography
• available to work from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at least 3-4 afternoons per week Mon. – Fri.
• energetic, fun, patient, and flexible
• have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel to the
above-mentioned locations
• Bachelor’s degree in fine art or art education and experience working with Elementary school-aged children preferred
Compensation depends on experience and qualifications. Interested and qualified applicants may email a resume and 4-5 samples of their art and/ or student art to nikki@kidsupstate.org.
